Rich Men & Kings

It was just a short time ago, everything was right
Then the darkness rolled in, swallowed up the light
People are talking, we’ve had enough
It’s time for something to be done

Rich men and kings
They are taking everything
All of everything isn’t enough for them
Rich men and kings
They are ruining the world
They don’t care who they kill — to us we’re just another hurdle

The mountains would crumble, the oceans would cry
The fish would swim away, leaving the rivers dry
But workers and dreamers still plant seeds in the dirt
Trying to regrow the garden and fix the hurt

Rich men and kings
They are taking everything
All of everything isn’t enough for them
Rich men and kings
They are ruining the world
They don’t care who they kill — to us we’re just another hurdle

New babies born should get what they deserve
There’s enough in this world for all to be heard
But old men and angels are fighting again
Their swords raised high, swinging in the wind
Rich Men & Kings

It was just a short time ago, everything was right
Then the darkness rolled in, swallowed up the light
Envy and greed are having their day
Dictators and tyrants want it to stay

Rich men and kings
They are taking everything
All of everything isn’t enough for them
Rich men and kings
They are ruining the world
They don’t care whom they kill — to us we’re just another hurdle

The mountains would crumble, the oceans would cry
The fish would swim away, leave the rivers dry
But workers and dreamers still plant seeds in the dirt
Trying to regrow the garden and fix the hurt

Rich men and kings
They are taking everything
All of everything isn’t enough for them
Rich men and kings
They are ruining the world
They don’t care whom they kill — to us we’re just another hurdle

New babies born should get what they deserve
There’s enough in this world for all to be heard
But old men and angels are fighting again
Their swords raised high, swinging in the wind

The sun will shine, love is stronger than hate
Good things will come even if they’re late
Maybe one day we’ll look back at this
The genie had granted our wish

Rich men and kings
They couldn’t take everything
All of everything wasn’t enough for them
Rich men and kings
They were ruining the world
We put a stop to it — to us, it was just another hurdle
