Lonesome Day

There are lines we cross
Sometimes we get lost
Mistakes are made
We stand in the shade
Out along the way
The choices fade
The sky turns grey
It’s a lonesome day

The cold wind blows
Through rows of stone
It all fades fast
It slips through my hands
The light won’t stay
It slips away
No one can see
What used to be
Still I pray
Come what may
I can’t outrun
A lonesome day

There are roads we take
We bend, we break
Hopes and dreams
Get lost in the seams
Left in the haze
A hollow place
Nothing left to say
It’s a lonesome day

The cold wind blows
Through rows of stone
It all fades fast
It slips through my hands
The light won’t stay
It slips away
No one can see
What used to be
Still I pray
Come what may
I can’t outrun
A lonesome day

The fire is low
The night moves slow
No past to hold
No seeds to sow
I close my eyes
Let silence stay
And breathe beneath
This lonesome day
